slappy

Quinn has started to bat at the toys that we dangle in front of her. I used to be all blasé about accomplishments like this...people would tell me that their babies had completed some milestone and I'd be all "whoopie!" (can you tell I just watched the Clueless True Hollywood Story?) But I was so excited to see her finally figure out that she can control her hand and make contact with those swinging things in front of her.

pow! bam! kazoom!

Another mom might take this opportunity to say "She's growing so fast--I want her to stay little forever!" Not me. I really don't like how helpless she is...it makes me so sad. I can't wait until she's the big strong Bunny who can talk and learn and play with me.

All right, I sound like a moron. I'm going to bed with the new Madonna book. Whoo whoo!

Congratulations on Quinn's battiness! Don't you just want everyone you know to come watch her do it because you are so proud of her? I felt the same way about my daughter's fun milestones-- until she crawled away from me the first time. Then the whole strong and independent child mystique began to wear off. I had envisioned us having fun girl talk and tea parties and things. She doesn't seem to share that vision yet.
