When I was little, I would stand outside the bathroom door and knock if my mom
took longer than 30 seconds to emerge. "What are you doing in there?!" I'd call over and over. Finally,
she'd get fed up.
"I'm frying pork chops for a Jewish wedding!" I didn't understand what this meant, and I didn't ask. I just went away.
Another delightful habit I had was badgering my dad. "Where's mom? Where's mom? WHERE'S MOM?" When he'd had enough,
he'd reply, "She broke her leg, we had to shoot her." Each time I'd repeat my question, he'd say it louder and more dramatically.
Kaitlin (my little muffin who is a sophomore in high school). Humph.
Kevin tells a good story and likes chocolate milk.
Dennis is my twin (well...maybe if there were't nine years separating us) and will be upset that I'm showing you this picture.
Friends
Amy lives in Ann Arbor with her husband Brian. She
also has a son, Aidan, and a daughter on the way. She is very smart and funny
and I miss her plenty.
Anne lives in Ft. Lauderdale with her husband Eric. We met in college, lived together our sophomore year, and majored
in eating late-night pizza snacks and watching David Letterman.
Cinda and Henri: Andy's sister and her husband.
Both architects, both a dream.
Colleen lives in a Chicago suburb too and has
a husband (Doug) and a daughter (Baylee) and another kiddie on the way. They
are the sassiest family.
Ericka lives in Madison with her husband Eric
and his car. We've been friends since high school, and they have a cutie patootie
baby girl named Keegan.
Funder is my cousin and lives in a magic castle with her hubby Paul, who is busy getting his freak on.
Joe is my friend from a thousand years ago. He and
I used to tour the bars in McHenry, hoping to stay at the Gambler until closing--with
little success. Now he's married to Katie (Ericka's sister...they hooked up
at my wedding), who is my favorite munchkin. There are probably more journal
entries about Joe in here than anyone else...and very few are flattering. Joe
& Katie had a baby girl, Lilly,
in January 2002.
Kim and her hubby John have a two sons, Jake and
Sammy. She and Sue went to college together, and she's the best thing to come
out of Normal, Illinois since the Grape Ape.
Sue is Joe's sister and has been my friend since we went to see "St. Elmo's Fire" together. She and Greg live in McHenry with me and have two
sons for me to love and kiss and pet: Nicholas and Charlie.
