Sales

I am about to embark on a 48-hour odyssey of adventure with Colleen.

Tonight, we are going to see Melissa Etheridge downtown for about the 4,000th time. We saw first saw her play when she was promoting her very first album, back in 1988. She was the opening act for Little Feat. After her show, Colleen and Anne and I wanted to split, but our other friend Ginny made us stay for Little Feat. Painful. PAINFUL. The last time we saw her play was when we went to Oprah. I don't think Melissa Etheridge would recognize me if I weren't with Colleen. Well, I don't think Melissa Etheridge would recognize me anyway, but. Ya know.

Tomorrow, my brothers and sisters in mischief, is Sidewalk Sales. I've written about Sidewalk Sales and its importance in my life here, here, here, and here. The last entry contains a passage from my recap of the day that just made me laugh out loud:

* Periodic whispered conferences with Colleen and Sue: "Did you see xxxxxx? Oh my god. Right over there. Shut up. He's bald. Oh my god. I was just talking to yyyyyyy. She still has BIG TALL BANGS. No. BIG TALL ONES. Shut up. Have you seen zzzzzz? I have to see him. Shut up, I had that dream about him and I need to get it out of my head. I know he still lives in McHenry, what's his problem?"

Right now, though, it's raining and Quinn's in bed for her rest, and I have 3 hours to kill before I need to leave to pick up Colleen for the concert. Andy is down in his office working at his desk in front of 3...yes, I said 3, computers. I think I might need to rest, myself. Or...go down and watch my new favorite TV show, House Hunters!!

Sidewalk Sales! I read those stories in your archives awhile back and proceeded to relay the one about your friend Joe in the bathroom to my sister because it was THAT funny. Now, I'm not saying I did it justice, but she was cracking up too (once I explained that it was a story I'd read on a blog - and what a blog was - and that yes, this actually happened to someone). Can't wait to read the new stories!

Oh and HGTV is ESPN for women. I am addicted to Rezoned and whatever the one is where they show what you'll get for your money in different housing markets. Between HGTV & the Food Network (and HBO's Entourage) I don't even miss my regular season shows.

house hunters? ooh...I don't love that one. I much prefer flip this house, flip that house, and property ladder.

Have you seen Suzanne Whang's website (the host of House Hunters)? http://www.suzannewhang.com/ I'm not sure how I feel about her slogan.

Hubby & I saw her in late 80's as well. Loved her. I wore out my "Brave & Crazy" CD. When she sang the Joplin duet w/the English gal on the Grammies, I forgot how much I loved her voice. When I heard she was touring again, told hubby we had to go & help her pay off any cancer treatment bills she might have left. I was so impressed. She clearly has not lost anything in her vocal or performance skills. She rocks.
