Your Dad sounds a lot like my Daddy. I never got my dirty dishes in my bed but he did regularly threaten to burn down my room if I did'nt clean it. I don't guess he would have, but I never wanted to find out if he would make good on the threat.

Your Dad sounds like he loved you very much. Even though he seemed harsh at times when you were young. It's amazing that, for the most part, they really did know what was best for us. And it really did hurt them more than it hurt us. Now that I have a child(teen) I know how much easier it would be to just let her do what she wants instead of what would be best for her.
