When In Doubt, Use Parsley

The Journal

"Please. It's just another one of her stupid pseudojournalistic self-obsessed 'The Wonder of Me! Life As It's Happening to Me!' pieces."

From Dating Big Bird by Laura Zigman

I keep an online journal because really, it's all about me.

The Name

When my mom found out she was pregnant with me (nine years after she had her sixth kid), she was the editor of a newspaper called the Harvard Herald. She also had a column called "When in Doubt, Use Parsley". It was some funny stuff. I still feel guilty that she had to quit to change my diapers. Here are some of her columns.

About Me

I'm 32.

I taught for four years, but I retired in June of '00.

I'm an "educational web site selector," which means I surf the Internet all day looking for sites for school libraries to include in their card catalog listings. I work from home, which is really quite dreamy.

I'm married to Andy, my best friend.

We had a baby on October 18, 2001. A girl. A Quinn.

We have a dog, Baxter, who has a habit of farting and then hurrying into the next room.

We live in a house in McHenry, a Chicago suburb.

I come from a big, close-knit (read: nosey) family.

I am lucky enough to have several wonderful friends. Many of them have reproduced, giving me several cute little people to pet and kiss and hand back.

There's more about my life, if you're so inclined.

Any questions?
